FIJI ISLANDS TRAVEL HUB
Bamboo is like an island hub or Homebase for exploring Fiji and the wider South Pacific. It is the ideal spot to mingle with like-minded budget travellers, share travel stories/ideas and craft some trip plans. Our Travel Host is on duty every day to answer any questions about travelling in Fiji. Guests may feel free to visit the Travel Host Desk for any tips, tricks and friendly advice, as well as trip bookings for ferries/buses/islands etc.
Lots of people choose to visit the land of the white sandy beaches, mostly for unlimited island hopping trips. This is the ‘backpacker freeway’ comprising about 20 volcanic islands and more than 25 small friendly resorts. A high speed ferry goes up and down the island chain everyday to provide a jump-on/jump-off backpacking experience. These trip are relatively pricey but very popular and various all inclusive ‘package trips’ are offered.
These small idyllic postcard-like islands make up a volcanic archipelago to the west of Nadi. Resorts range from 1 Star to 6 Star accommodation and offer crystal clear waters with palm fringed beaches. Islands that we recommend highly for budget travelers are Malolo, Beachcomber, Mana, and Bounty. One of the favourite Bamboo activities is to charter a boat for island day trips to these spots. For inter-island travel, the Mamanuca Backpacker Boat also departs daily from the beach beside Bamboo.
Viti Levu (translated as ‘Big Fiji’) is the Main Island of Fiji where the majority of our population resides. Nadi is Fiji’s Airport hub. Bamboo offers fun in-house day trips to the Nadi attractions such as mud pools, hot springs, waterfalls, villages, surf/snorkel beaches and sand dunes. It is possible to travel around the island in a day, but most people target the south side to stay/play/explore. Beachouse is a great spot and visit Pacific Harbour for the world famous Shark Dive. Suva is Fiji’s vibrant Capital city and gateway to the Northern islands.
Are an archipelago of colourful coral reefs, bright tropical lagoons, uncrowded white beaches, vast scenic interiors and radiant, fun loving people. This is a part of the world where the South Pacific way of life remains pure, and where the outside world seems far away. Relatively untouched and undiscovered, here you will find a real burst of South Pacific culture and hospitality with world-class surfing, snorkeling, diving and hiking. Taveuni, Qamea and Savusavu are highly recommended. North Islands ‘local way’ expeditions leave from Bamboo on Tuesdays and Fridays.
